Looking Back… Leaping Forward!

Planes don’t have rear view mirrors.

But people should never be without them.

Today is the place where LIFE happens… isn’t it, Lord?  It’s where we are in any given moment.  The NOW.

Today can also be a place where we get stuck.  Where we camp out… veg out… hide out. Maybe it’s from uncertainty.  Often, it’s fatigue.  Way too often, it’s just plain Fear.

That’s when a rear view mirror is not only helpful… it can be vital.  IF what we see in that mirror is The Right Stuff.  The Stuff that clears our mind.  Renews our heart.  Spurs us onward… and Upward.

I spent hours yesterday (and today) looking in my rear view mirror.  Re-reading my journal notes from five years ago.  When I was traveling through the Valley of the Shadow of Cancer with You, Lord.

Suddenly, I wasn’t just reading anymore… I was back there.

Remembering the same insights that led me to such radical breakthroughs back then.

Feeling the same joy and wonder as I relived every miracle — large and small.  Miracles from Your hand, Lord… so personal and perfect for my needs in every moment.

Experiencing the same certainty of Your Presence.  Praising You yet again for Your All-Sufficient Grace.

Knowing that everything You taught me and promised me and proved to me back then is just as true and right and vital… Today.

You taught long ago that such “rear view mirror” moments would be necessary for us… didn’t You, Lord?

“‘When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the Lord said to Joshua, ‘Choose twelve men… one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan… and put them down at the place where you stay tonight… to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord… These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”  (Joshua 4:1-3,6-7)

Millions of people saw those stones, Lord.  They were encouraged and emboldened as they remembered how You had moved mightily on their behalf.  Accomplishing impossible miracles of deliverance and provision for them.

Yesterday and today, I was the only one seeing the “stones” You had me “take up” five years ago.  The testimonies You had me write down as You led me through that Valley of Your choosing.

Testimonies about the impossible miracles of deliverance and provision You accomplished for me.  I am not a “tribe” of 1.5 million.  I am just one person.  One beloved Daughter of the Most High God.

Today, this Daughter is the one who is encouraged and emboldened… yet again!

“Daughter, your faith has healed you.  Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”  (Mark 5:34)

I remember, Daddy!  And I am ready to “leap” forward with You again.

Making new memories… together!

Gratefully,

Abba’s Girl
