Hot Wheels… Or WINGS?

What do a Ferrari, plastic surgery (pick your favorite body part) and divorce have in common?  For more than a few people, unfortunately, one or more of them are the fruit of a Mid-Life Crisis.

But there is A Better Way. A highly-successful Christian business owner found that Better Way… and is helping others find it, too.

Bob Buford was Chairman of the Board of Buford Television, Inc. until its sale in 1999. At its zenith, his family-owned business had grown into a network of cable systems across the U.S. An impressive legacy, having started with a single ABC Affiliate in Tyler, Texas.   http://www.daystar.com/guest-guide/bob-buford/

But years before he sold his company, Bob had already wrestled with his own Mid-Life Question — “Now what?” For him, it didn’t prove to be a crisis. Instead, it became the turning point that led to The First Day of The Rest of His Life.

Bob’s now famous book, Halftime, describes that in-between season that occurs at about age 45. The season — the second half of life — that Bob believes can become the richest and most meaning-filled season of all.  https://halftimeinstitute.org/about/

And Bob is committed to helping individuals and organizations discover and embrace all the Lord has for them. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  (Ephesians 2:10)

Halftime Institute is the leading authority on creating a second half of life defined by joy, impact and balance. Thousands from varied backgrounds have been through its programs — which are designed to teach, coach and connect marketplace leaders “to surrender to [their] calling, live out deep faith in God, multiply kingdom impact in the issues Jesus cares about, and experience lasting joy in community.”   https://halftimeinstitute.org/about/

Moving marketplace leaders from Success to Significance. The Institute’s website is full of stories of people who found their Better Way. Some stayed in the marketplace, others started something new, some joined other organizations.

Dianne Paddison was COO of a Fortune 500 company. Her personal life was crumbling (divorce, single motherhood). After her Halftime revelation, she published Work, Love, Pray and founded 4word Women — a global community of Christian women that connects, leads, and supports women in the workplace to achieve their God-given potential with confidence.   https://halftimeinstitute.org/stories/diane-paddison-women-of-faith-at-work/  AND  https://4wordwomen.org/about-4word/

Dr. Collette Cozean is a seasoned medical-device inventor and successful entrepreneur. She was CEO of Innovative BioDefense Diodem, among other companies. Now her Audacious Goal is to help establish quality healthcare centers within a 1-2 day walk for every person in Kenya, Africa.  https://halftimeinstitute.org/stories/dr-colette-cozean-vision-for-africa/

What’s not to love?  🙂

Did I mention the Leadership Network Bob founded 30 years ago? Fostering mutual learning among high capacity leaders — like Bill Hybels and Rick Warren? Catalyzing a movement of churches seeking discerning leadership practices to remap the church’s influence in the Third Millenium?  http://www.christianitytoday.com/edstetzer/2014/april/catalyst-that-fostered-movement.html

Hot wheels? No way… Soaring on wings like these is so much better!

What Halftime transformations have you seen in others? Or experienced yourself?
