Goosebump City!!!

You welcomed us with a splash, Lord.

We had come to pray.  To seek Youmore of You.  In our lives.  In our church that is struggling.  It was pouring at the church.  The gully-washing, torrential kind of pouring Noah knew all too well.

My two sisters were disheartened.  Disgusted, even.  But, by Your Grace, I sensed there was something more going on.

We are on a new journey with You.  Asking, Seeking and Knocking at doors that seem forever locked, with no sign of any key.  Learning to wait on You… and listen.  And here You were… speaking through every raindrop!

Pouring out Your Spirit — Your Living Water — in this place.  Softening the land — and the hearts — that have been hardened by the spiritual desert we have been in.

That’s how our time with You tonight began.

We shared our hearts.  Our struggles.  Our convictions.  Our recognition that we must choose differently going forward.  To make more room for You in our lives.

The deluge continued.  Punctuated by occasional lightning and thunder.

We turned to the stakes before us.  Twelve wooden stakes, each with a different Scripture You had given us. Scriptures we planned to drive into the church property.  So the land would be saturated with more than rain.

Scriptures we sensed were encouragements — even promises — from You.  Promises that You are going to raise this dead place — and the people in it — to LIFE!  Those who are here now and those yet to come, at the time of Your choosing.

We stepped outside.  The torrential downpour had lessened.  Only a light drizzle remained. So we made our way around the property, asking You where You wanted each particular Scripture planted.

At the head of the steps leading to the outdoor pavilion.  “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”  (Proverbs 16:9)

At the well pump in the garden.  “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink.  Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of Living Water will flow from within them.”  (John 7:37-38)

At the children’s playground, virtually unused now because there are no children.  “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing [birthing] a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”  (Isaiah 43:18-19)

So it was that we made our way around the entire property.  Twelve Scriptures now planted in — prayed into — the earth.  Written in red ink, on wooden stakes.  Just like Your blood-stained Cross.

Our final stake was Your promise that You have come to us — here and now — to bind up the brokenhearted and display Your splendor.  That we will receive a double portion... and everlasting joy!  (Isaiah 61:1-4,7)  With the last hammer strike and Amen, we stood up…

… and gasped!

There in the sky over us was a DOUBLE RAINBOW!!!

Any questions?   🙂

Like I said, Lord… Goosebump City!!!

Awestruck,

Abba’s Girl
