Closer than my next breath.
“Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20b)
Even when I do not live up to all I desire to be and do for You.
“For the Lord will not reject His people; He will never forsake His inheritance.” (Psalm 94:14)
You are Almighty God — Creator of the Universe, Fearsome in Power. Yet You draw near to Your people and speak to us so personally that we “melt” — and are reformed — in the “fire” of Your passionate love!
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. I will build you up again… Again you will take up your timbrels and go out and dance with the joyful.” (Jeremiah 31:3-4)
Sometimes Your answers to our prayers seem to take (from our perspective) forever. Yet, sometimes, You answer so quickly our heads spin! Like yesterday…
I had lifted my need to You: “I am running on empty, Lord. Come fill my tank.” Then I went to church… and You filled my tank in Your glorious, head-spinning way!
First, You spoke to me. You sent someone up to me, someone I don’t really know. She spoke words to me that I knew instantly were from Your heart to her lips. Words of affirmation and confirmation that were so specific, I wondered if You had somehow shown her the journal entry I had written just two hours earlier.
Then, You used me. I heard a deeply-revealing testimony in church, one that took courage to share. As I was listening, You brought to mind the name of a dear brother who lives 3,000 miles away. A “Divine Connection” You are orchestrating, for such a time as this. And, by Your Amazing Grace, You are letting me play a role in it. [Deep sigh.]
And so the day continued… By day’s end, I could only proclaim as the psalmist did so long ago: “My [tank] runneth over!”
“It is good to praise the Lord and good to make music to Your Name, O Most High, proclaiming Your love in the morning and Your faithfulness at night.” (Psalm 92:1-2)
Dancing — gratefully, joyfully — as I welcome this New Day… !!!
