God Who is Always ON TIME!

How do I put You into words, Lord, when words cannot possibly capture the wonder — the magnitude — of You???

“”The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands… They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them.  Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”  (Psalm 19:1-4b)

A couple pulled their car into our driveway this morning.  They are the daughter and son-in-law of a dear neighbor.  We had not seen them in at least a year.  Then, today of all days, they drove into our driveway.  They had seen the flag in our yard and it drew them in.  The flag with its encouraging message of Faith, Love and Hope on behalf of those battling breast cancer.

The wife asked:  “Are you involved in Relay for Life?”  I said, “Yes!  Would you like to join our team?”  They answered:  “We have a team and were going to ask you to join ours!”  What a coincidence… HA!

While the husband went off to talk with my husband, his wife asked me:  “Have you ever known anyone with breast cancer?”  She didn’t realize I, myself, am a Survivor.  She joined me in praising You, Lord, after I shared with her the briefest testimony of Your Grace to me through that “wilderness” experience with You!  How You changed me forever through so many God-encounters in that wilderness!  Encounters of Your real and tangible presence that I would never have known apart from that wilderness.

Every word You had me speak resonated deeply — obviously — in her spirit.  So You moved me mention dear Amanda, who would be having major surgery this very day… and her precious mom, Pam.  Both priceless to You… and through You, to me.  I asked her to pray for them and, without hesitation, she exclaimed:  “Let’s pray for them right now!”  But before we started, You had me look at my watch… so I would not miss the enormity of Your divine orchestration.  It was exactly 12:00 NOON… the time Amanda’s surgery was scheduled to begin.

We were both overcome with awe as we interceded for Amanda and Pam.  It was another of those Moments unlike most moments.  A “kairos” moment.  Funny how You had led me to that very term earlier today, with a specific — and holy — application for another sister-in-Christ with whom I was privileged to speak.  Suddenly, I realized I was in a second “kairos” moment in the same day… and it took my breath away!

“Kairos moment = A time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action — the opportune and decisive moment.”

When we finished praying, we hugged… and then You reminded me.  This Moment was so much bigger than even Your orchestration of this couple’s day so they would show up right at 12:00… the perfect time You had ordained that we would pray together for Amanda.  The wonder of it all included that yard flag.

By Your Grace, Lord, I had found that flag in December… when I was looking (unsuccessfully) for a Christmas flag.  I spotted it and immediately felt Your heart prompting to buy three flags that day — the only three the retailer had left.  One for myself, one for Amanda and one for Pam.  I mailed the two to my sisters-in-Christ, with the promise that I would fly my flag in solidarity with them… as a daily reminder to pray, in agreement with them, for Your healing grace to Amanda and for a felt sense of Your empowering presence throughout her journey.

So it was that, today, it was that flag — Amanda’s flag — that drew a prayer warrior to my home.  A warrior I had not seen in over a year.  A warrior You sent, Lord, to pray with me for Amanda, at the precise moment her surgery would begin!  And now this can become one more undeniable encouragement to Amanda and Pam that You are:

The Almighty God Who loves them with an everlasting love.  The One Who sees (and will meet) their every need.  The One Who moves heaven and earth on their behalf.  The One Who makes Your Presence knowneverywhere, in every moment.  The One Whose grace is not just sufficient… it is more than enough.

“Therefore… since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain… let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings… Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”  (Hebrews 10:19-23)

Like I said when I started this post:  How do I put You into words, Lord, when words cannot possibly capture the wonder — the magnitude — of You???
