You and Paul Harvey must be having a good chuckle together! The kind of joy that two people share when they know a third one they love is discovering, step-by-step, the Surprise they have prepared. When “the rest of the story” is sill far off, because the joy is in The Journey.
I was emailing again yesterday with my (Your) photographer. We have set the date for our first Encounter — tomorrow afternoon. I say “Encounter” with a capital E because we are both certain it will be… an Encounter with You!
We are meeting halfway between our respective cities, in a town I have only passed through once. She asked me where to meet. Me, the clueless one! I said I’m still a “newbie” here; anywhere she picks is fine with me. She responded by saying she’s still a “newbie,” too… so she did a Google search for coffee shops there.
This is when You and Paul starting chuckling, Big Time… right, Lord? 🙂
The first business to pop up on Google was “Cup of Joy Coffeehouse” — a Christian coffee shop that joyfully displays Romans 8:28!!!
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
Why am I not surprised??? Another one of my Life Verses! Just like Jeremiah 29;11! 🙂
We may be “newbies”… but You are not, Lord! You have been “at this” since before time began. Divinely orchestrating the steps of Your people. Unfolding Your plans and purposes in ways that not only give You glory, but also do so much more. Like reminding us that You care intimately about each one of us and about every step we take in our journeys back Home to You. Although You are powerful enough to speak the Universe into existence and You have destinies of eternal significance for each of us to fulfill, You care about every minute detail along the way.
The God Who Creates. The God Who Cares.
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31)
Yes, Lord… You are The God of Signs and Wonders. Miracles that defy the very natural laws You have created. Miracles of Biblical proportions, like parting seas and making the sun go backwards and drenching fleeces with dew while the ground stays dry. God-sized miracles of blessing and deliverance and assurance. Yet Your “signs and wonders” are also evident every day, in the smallest details of our lives. Your Majesty unfolds in the Asus K450VC AC Adapter mountains we face… and also in the mundane.
Where will You show Yourself, Lord, in the mundane details of our lives today? Details that may seem mundane to us, but that are eternally significant to You? Like which photographer to pick? Or where to meet? Give us eyes to see… that we might love You and praise You all the more!
“What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to Him?… Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live.” (Deuteronomy 4:7,9a)
