Gardener of Grace

Weeds.

They had taken over our herb garden in the thirteen+ weeks we were gone.  The herbs had largely disappeared, but the weeds were THRIVING.  Some of them had grown several feet tall… like mini-trees, complete with branches.

I spent a fair amount of today pulling those weeds up… and planting new herbs.

Out with the bad, in with the good.

Maybe that’s what I need to do on the inside, too, Lord.  Pull out the “weeds” (the scraggly, unattractive stuff that’s sapping my “nutrients”) to make room for some new “herbs”… something full of fragrance and flavor.

Out with the bad, in with The Good.

I have had an “edge” — a measure of impatience — too often lately.  I’m tempted to wonder if You couldn’t just cover me with some divine version of “Weed & Feed” and take care of it all.  Wouldn’t that be so much easier, Lord?

I have a feeling some of these weeds need some real pulling, to get to the roots.

“See to it that no one falls short of the grace of Asus K450CC AC Adapter God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”  (Hebrews 12:15)

And what about those prickly branches?

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit He prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

I need Your help, Lord.

“Lord my God, I called to You for help, and You healed me.”  (Psalm 30:2)

Awaiting the touch of Your “Green Thumb”…
