Father of All Faithfulness

This morning, You spoke — as You often do — through a whisper that “sounded” in my spirit more like a shout.  An Encouraging Word.  A Call to Arms.

I was on the floor, on my knees… then on my back, looking out my window at the sky above.  The dark clouds in the sky — surely a storm is coming, a “storm” is here — were bordered in my field of vision by a tall oak tree to the left.  The wind was blowing — not a howling gale, but a strong steady breeze.  The leaves were dancing, silhouetted against the threatening Harbinger of Trouble.

Evidence of Your Holy Spirit.  The wind moving at Your command, assuring me of Your Abiding Presence, as I sang in my heart a beautiful truth:  “Washed Away.”

“Washed away!  Washed away!  Every sin!  Every stain!  Covered by the blood of Christ!  All my guilt!  All my shame!  Washed away!”

Suddenly the wind died.  Not a single leaf moved.  My spirit grieved… as I imagined David’s did, so very long ago.

“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.  Do not cast me from Your Presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me.  Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”  (Psalm 51:10-12)

In the next instant, the leaves began to dance again.

Oh, Jesus… Lover of my soul!  Giver of Life!  From the depths of my heart and my need, I say:  Thank You!!!
