Dream… Or No Dream?

What does dreaming have to do with deliverance? Maybe nothing.

Maybe everything.

Last night, I dreamed about Andrew Walker — the popular Hallmark movie star. Hallmark – “The Heart of TV.” No surprise there. I saw him last night, in a new movie that aired for the first time.

What surprised me was our encounter. He was telling me he spends most of his time hiding the fact that he’s a Christian. And I was exhorting him to do the opposite.

I woke up, remembering this dream vividly. I forget most of my dreams upon waking, so this must be significant. I Googled: “Is Andrew Walker a Christian?” Well, he’s… 39. Single. Straight. Non-smoking. And… “Non-religious.”

Did this confirm my dream, Lord? That he does know You, but fools even the paparazzi? It’s hard to imagine that anyone who really knows and loves You could (or would) keep such a wonderful Truth to themselves…

I turned from my wondering to Your Word. 2 Kings 6:24 through 7:9. The pre-scheduled passage in my One Year Bible. The Aramean army was laying siege to Israel’s capital, Samaria. A famine so great, Your people were eating each other.  🙁

Four lepers decided to surrender to the enemy, hoping for a chance to live. But the Aramean camp was empty. Because You, Lord, had caused them to flee, abandoning their tents and everything else.

The lepers, overjoyed, began to hoard their newly-discovered riches. Until they realized: “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves… Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.”

So they did. And in the moment I read that, Lord, Your quiet whisper could have been the loudest shout from the highest mountain.

By Your Grace, I prayed for Andrew. Maybe the paparazzi have it right; maybe my dream does. Either way, something is amiss.

Because if Andrew Walker doesn’t yet know and love You, Lord, he may be the hottest yet emptiest actor in Hollywood. He needs more than The Heart of TV. And if he’s hiding that he knows You, he needs to fall head-over-heels in love with The Heart of The World. So his secret becomes his witness!

I also prayed for all of us who say we love You, Lord. Because maybe we’re not unlike those lepers.

Do we need to be reminded what it was like when we were surrounded by Your Enemy? When we were spiritually starving? When You came, undeniably, to deliver us from our certain death sentence?

Are we hoarding the riches of Your Grace, Lord? Failing to share Your Good News with all who are within our sphere of influence? Those still starving — desperate beyond their knowing — for the filling only You can bring them?

“I am the Bread of Life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)

Food for Thought, indeed. Dream or no dream.

Gratefully,

Abba’s Girl
