Divine Close Encounter – Part 2

By Your Amazing Grace, Lord, I experienced two of these yesterday.  Each of them was life-saving in its own way.

The first one, described in Part 1, helped a woman dare to hope that You could breathe Life back into a seemingly “dead” situation.

The second one hit even closer to home.  In the second Encounter, You spared my life, Lord… literally.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have Life, and have it to the full.”  (John 10:10)

I was riding my bicycle through a residential neighborhood with virtually no traffic.  I was thinking about You, Lord… and how very grateful I am for Your many blessings in my life.

I was in the right lane.  Coming toward me in the other lane was a golf cart, with a lone car following close behind it.  The golfers were friends of mine.  They waved to me.

As I raised my hand to greet them,  the car behind them suddenly sped up and crossed into my lane to pass them!  Driving on the wrong side of the street.  In the space I was about to enter.  With little to no margin.

Did the driver just not see me?  Did the driver just not care?

It didn’t really matter.  Because You see me, Lord.  And You care.

Always.

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them falls to the ground outside your Father’s care.  And even the very hairs on your head are all numbered.  So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”  (Matthew 10:29-31)

In a split second, You steadied my bicycle on the very edge of the road.  By no more than a couple of inches, I could have been in the hospital last night.

Or maybe even with You, Lord.

Divine Close Encounter #2.

One more thing to add to my Gratitude List… right, Lord?

“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.  For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”  (Psalm 110:4-5)

And You know the really amazing part, Lord?  Even if I had ended up in the hospital last night, or had left the planet to be with You, the same would be true!

“For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.”  (Psalm 110:5)

Indeed!
