Where Was God? – Part 2

Posted by & filed under Discovering Hope, Empowering Life.

I didn’t know the answer to that question for more than half of my life. I was terminally broken. And the pain of it all was almost more than I could bear. Almost. I came to very brink of life. That place where I believed I could kill my pain by killing myself. I didn’t know how much LIFE and HOPE and JOY awaited me beyond the darkness that enveloped me. Until Jesus came… and pierced my darkness with His Light. “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.” (John 8:12) Where was God when the tragedy… Read more »

Where Was God? – Part I

Posted by & filed under Discovering Hope, Empowering Life.

It’s been awhile since I have posted here. I’ve been spending most of my time posting online encouragements to my Book Launch Team for Victory in The Valley. I have also been praying about the ways the Lord is leading me to transform my future postings here. I’m EXCITED about His plan! More on all that to follow… soon! Meanwhile, I have been sitting for the last two days with the shock of it all. The shock of what happened in Sutherland Springs. When, at the precise time I was leaving my small church in my small town in Virginia, brothers and sisters I have not met — yet —… Read more »

BEAR-ly AWAKE!

Posted by & filed under Empowering Life.

I could hardly keep my eyes open. Too much activity and too few hours of sleep will do that every time. I was barely awake. Until our Unwelcome Visitor showed up! All 300 pounds of him! (I’m guessing. I didn’t ask him.)  🙂 He didn’t care that it was 2:00 AM. He had already finished off the bird food in the “bear-proof” bird feeder we had spent hours installing yesterday. Now, he was after the grill on our back porch. The grease from the delicious lemon-herb chicken we had cooked for dinner last night. He didn’t care that it was our screened-in porch. The screen was no match for his huge… Read more »

It’s About TIME!!!

Posted by & filed under Discovering Hope, Empowering Life.

Has it really been SEVEN weeks since I last posted here, Lord? SEVEN — the number of Perfection? Completion? Does this mean my unusual silence here is coming to a close? I haven’t been silent, of course. I have been writing — to You and about You — every single day! Often, several times a day! Just in a different venue… On my private Facebook page. For my Book Launch Team. Neither of which existed seven weeks ago! Because The Book wasn’t yet in my hands. Seven weeks ago, I was racing through formatting and final edits for the paperback and eBook (multiple versions)… submitting them to my publisher… spending… Read more »

The Sore Throat Revelation

Posted by & filed under Inspiring Courage, Empowering Life.

It has been one full week since severe pain first gripped my throat, Lord. Pain like I have not felt before. Making it hard to swallow… and hard to speak. Hard to take in nourishment.  And hard to give it out… in spoken words, at least. Not moving into my head or into my chest. Just isolated to my throat. I thought I knew its source — a dear friend I had seen in the community, who was complaining of a respiratory bug. He may have been a factor. But now, I realize… there was more to it. I had been “treating” the soreness with Three A’s.  Aspirin (to relieve… Read more »

Beware of “Cyber-Germ-itis”

Posted by & filed under Climbing Higher, Empowering Life.

It must have been a computer virus, Lord. I didn’t realize they were so… contagious! Yesterday morning, I was supposed to have a teleconference with a dear Forever Sister. I had emailed her the day before with the dial-in instructions. She had emailed me back, saying she had picked up a respiratory flu “bug” and couldn’t talk. We had rescheduled for later in the week. Not before joking about the “cyber hugs and kisses” I had already sent her… that she could return them to me without infecting me. By yesterday afternoon, my throat started getting sore. 🙂 Just kdding, Lord! Not about my sore throat… it is definitely there…. Read more »

More Than Coincidence!!!

Posted by & filed under Embracing Love, Empowering Life.

Oh, Lord… Sometimes You pour out Your Love like a tsunami! Filling my cup to overflowing… so much so, I almost have to say, “Stop, Lord! Let me catch my breath!” Not really. I don’t want you to ever stop! 🙂 Like Friday. I was driving from Florida to Georgia. On my way to a two-day women’s conference, entitled “The Life of A Victor.” I was scheduled to speak briefly about the precious book You had me write, Lord. The book that is just weeks away from being published. Victory in The Valley – 7 Secrets to Overcoming Life’s Worst and Savoring Life’s Best. I got in my car to begin… Read more »

The Politics of Fear… and HOPE!

Posted by & filed under Inspiring Courage, Empowering Life.

Oh, Lord… How amazing it is to see the hardening of so many people’s hearts!  I see them and hear about them in nightly news broadcasts… and all over social media. The raw footage of protesters expressing their free speech. Regrettably, many who are doing so with violent rhetoric and violent behavior. The quiet, yet fervent, assertions of others that we are headed for The End of Civilization As We Know It. The news anchors who pour gasoline on these fires. Ostensibly, because of the outcome of our national election.  But closer to home, I see what is happening in the minds and hearts of people I personally know and… Read more »

How Blessed We Are, Lord!

Posted by & filed under Discovering Hope, Empowering Life.

Their presence was too obvious to ignore.  And too ominous.  I saw them with my own eyes. Men with machine guns.  On every street corner.  A little disconcerting, on the busy city streets.  I asked our host who they were and why they were there.  He said, “For protection.  To help keep the peace.”  Apparently, there had been unrest. Four days later, 80 people were shot (and killed) there.  Right where I had been just days before. Innocent people, going about their daily business.  Caught in the crossfire.  Armed insurgents had just attempted to overthrow the government. Welcome to Venezuela.  Back in the days when Hugo Chavez first came into… Read more »

Ready for Liftoff!

Posted by & filed under Seeking Intimacy, Empowering Life.

You are the Master Communicator, Lord!  I know this… yet You never cease to amaze me with Your creativity!  Yesterday, the “medium” You chose for Your message was a… … helicopter??? I was meeting with a dear sister.  We always gather in Your Presence.  And You never disappoint us! Yesterday was “just another day” in the wonder of doing Life with You! “Today is the day the Lord has made.  Let us rejoice and be glad in it!”  (Psalm 118:24) You have stirred her heart with a longing.  A desire to be more intentional about sharing Your Good News in the marketplace. She is a business owner with a great… Read more »
