Broken Heart Power… And More!

You can’t pass on what you don’t have. That’s why leaders inevitably fail when they say “Do as I say, not as I do.”

Because, whatever we may say, we pass on what we do have. Emerson said it well when he observed, “Who you are [what you do] speaks so loudly, I cannot hear what you say.”

I can only hear (believe) what you say when you’re walking your talk.

Leadercast Women 2018 takes place on October 12, 2018 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. No, it isn’t a “women only” event. Men and women are both welcome.

But the speakers are all women. Sisters Barbara Bush and Jenna Bush Hager. Sports agent Molly Fletcher. Journalist Celeste Headlee. Champion NASCAR driver Julia Landauer, and others.

Their focus? Knowing yourself so you can lead yourself well. A prerequisite for leading others well.

In the interest of equal time — 🙂 — the announcement for Leadercast Women incorporated some thoughts from several Atlanta-based men who are considered leadership experts.

Dan Frey — partner at GIANT Worldwide. “Knowing yourself to lead yourself is actually knowing where you need to be completely healthy, completely fulfilled, but also how to be able to connect with others.”

Andy Stanley — author, speaker and founder of North Point Ministries. “Most social movements that have impacted the world began with a broken-hearted leader. Someone whose heart was so broken over an issue… they decided something has to be done and they decided not to take no for an answer.”

Steve Franklin — Emory University educator, researcher, author, and business executive. “You are a composite of the books you read, the people you meet, and the places you go. You’d better go meet everybody you can, go to every seminar you can, read every book/article you can on leadership. Then, do your best to ask someone… in grade longer than you, ‘Would you be open to mentoring me?‘”

These words of wisdom apply to any CEO. But what is their unique relevance for Christian CEOs?

What do we need to be completely healthycompletely fulfilled and connect-able spiritually?

We are to be Ambassadors and Spirit-empowered witnesses for Christ in the mission field of the marketplace. To that end, how can our intimacy with the Lord be anything other than our most important leadership core competency?

Does whatever leaves us broken-hearted sync up with what breaks the Lord’s heart? If not, what needs to change in us so we come into proper alignment? If so, how will we become energized enough to ‘not take no for an answer’?

To what extent are we submitting ourselves to the godly counsel and mentoring of Christian leaders and coaches who are more spiritually mature than we are? Who are seeking not only leadership mastery but spiritual mastery, learning at the feet of the Master?

Can you think of any better formula for accessing and imparting Kingdom POWER?
