Believing What We Cannot See

I was told to expect 250. Far fewer came. More than I could count on two hands… but not much more.

The precise number You had hand-picked to be there, Lord. The perfect number.

The event organizer came to me as we were about to start. Concern and disappointment lined her face. I couldn’t help but think… If only one person on the planet — past, present or future — needed Your sacrifice on the Cross, You would have given Yourself gladly.

Even for one.

So we lifted it all to You… and I began to speak. Because You had called each of us there by name. On that particular night. You are doing something special in each of our lives… and whatever was to happen there was part of it.

By Your Grace — amazing, as it always is to me — I spoke. To You. About You. For You. Through You.

About… the deepest Valleys in my life… Desolation and Desperation that almost led to my Death… Deliverance and Delight that turned my Mourning into Dancing, and my Abject Defeat into Awesome Victory.

Thriving by HOPE — Come What May.

An outcome — a miracle — that is only possible through the Promises and Presence of the only One who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine… according to Your Power at work within us (Ephesians 3:20).

You, Lord. The One whose name — Jesus — is above every other name.

Thriving… despite the worst Life can — and will — throw at us. Thriving… not just surviving.

By HOPE. Not wishful thinking… but the kind of HOPE that is tested and true. The kind of HOPE that becomes an anchor for our souls… even when we have to face the very worst storms imaginable.

Come What May. The most profound Losses. The most destructive Evil. Cancer of the body. Worse still, Cancer of the soul.

The event ended… and I walked out into the darkness. Thanking You for Your Light… and the difference(s) it had already made. Difference(s) I could not yet see.

The next morning, You spoke to me in that world-rocking way that always fills me with unspeakable JOY… and unshakable FAITH.

“Who dares despise the day of small beginnings, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?” (Zechariah 4:10)

Aren’t You the chosen Capstone, Lord? Was I Your Zerubbabel that night… speaking to (and for) an audience of One?

“The Master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your Master’s happiness.” (Matthew 25:21)

Before the morning was over, the calls began. From those who had been there… and heard You speak to them through the words You had given me. By day’s end, I sat in the puddle of my tears. Tears of Wonder… and Worship.

Oh, my Beloved… How may I serve You today?

With all my heart,

Abba’s Girl
