AUDACIOUS Prayers!

You’re teaching me to pray BIG, Lord.  BIGGER today than yesterday.  Growing my small faith so it is as “small” as a mustard seed!

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.  Nothing will be impossible for you.”  (Matthew 17:20)

On our last day in the Bahamas, we were helping the local church put on a carnival.  Lots of games and food for kids and adults alike.  All to raise money to help support Zion Children’s Home on Current Island.

A place of sanctuary and hope… Where children in danger can be rescued and, in time, find families who will love them.

The need is so great, Lord.  Some 200 children remain in homes that are dangerous to their health and well-being, but there is no other place to put them.  Zion has a new building ready to house ten more, but needs the operating funds to staff it.

And so… the carnival.

As we walked on the island praying, we were captivated by this thought, Lord:  There are people of wealth there — property owners, tourists.  It would be so easy for them (financially) to write a check to cover the entire need.  If their heart made it so.

You began to stir us to pray with a sense of expectancy, Lord.  And as we did, You had us notice things that seemed to add an “Amen” to those prayers.

The shiny new penny that appeared directly in our path.  Like the widow’s mite.  She gave all she had as an offering to You.

We took it to the donation bowl at the carnival.  Dropping it in as a symbol of the offering we were making to You.  We were working so hard, pouring ourselves out…knowing the “fruit” of all those efforts would fall far short of the need.  Yet…

… believing You will accomplish something HUGE by comparison.  Something so huge — so miraculous — that we will all be weeping with AWE!!!

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, for ever and ever!”  (Ephesians 3:20)

A short while later, on another street, we looked up from our prayers and saw a tiny hummingbird perched on the power line overhead.  The tiniest of birds.  Perched on a POWER line.  He stayed there long enough for me to take his picture.

So we would have evidence…for future reference???

We looked down again and noticed the gate we were standing next to.  Why was I to surprised to see what was painted on it?  A WHALE.  From the tiniest of birds to the largest of sea creatures.

What are You up to, Lord???

The Audacious Prayers You prompt call for Audacious Answers… don’t they, Lord?

We can hardly wait!!!
