Arise, My Love!

“How beautiful you are, My darling!  Oh, how beautiful!”  (Song of Songs 1:15)

This morning, rose up from sleep, Lord… physically, emotionally and spiritually.

I listened to Your Word.  You spoke it over me and into me.  You prayed it over me and into me.

“Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, and to see My glory, the glory You have given Me because You loved Me before the creation of the world.”  (John 17:24)

I spoke Your Word and prayed Your Word as I walked up the mountain behind our house.  Up the same trail that, just days ago, was overgrown to the max with briers and foot-tripping vines.

A walk up the mountain, in response to Your morning whisper:  “Arise, My Love!”

As I walked, ever upward, I wielded my “spiritual machete” — the Sword of Your Spirit.  Asking You to use it against all of my enemies.  Those on the outside, sent by the thief.  And those on the inside, sent by my sin.

“For the Word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joint and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”  (Hebrews 4:12)

Your kindness yesterday, through Your Revelation by Radio, melted me… and moved me.  You were letting me sit in the muck and mire of my own making for as long as I wanted.  Yet there You were, ever-present… inviting me to a different Choice.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.  Stand firmly, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”  (Galatians 5:1)

Today, I implored You to take the Sword of Your Spirit into Your hands, Lord.  And prune me to…

… greater Fruitfulness for You.  Even today.

… greater Focus on Your priorities for me.  Even today.

… greater Faith that Your grace will be sufficient for every assignment.  Even today.

For my sake… and Yours.

“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”  (James 2:26)

I knew what my first task should be.  Something on my “to do” list for the past two weeks.  I turned to it, determined to not be distracted.  But Your heart prompting was real:  “Check your email.”  So I did…

… only to discover the event that had generated that task had been cancelled!  Just 45 minutes earlier!

Answers to my prayers???

For greater Fruitfulness?  You saved me effort that could have been wasted.

For greater Focus?  You redirected my priorities.

For greater Faith?  You were directing my every step… in the way I should go.

Step-by-step.  Up the mountain.  Out of the pit.

“I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of Life.”  (John 8:12)

Right behind You…

Lord, help me keep up!!!
