10,000 TONS

The soft weight of the blanket of sleep that pinned me down last night… before I ever got the chance to blog.

The hard weight of the once-in-a-lifetime feat I had accomplished  — survived?! — just the day before.  The spreading of gravel — by hand, with rake and shovel — on our badly-eroded mountain driveway.

10,000 TONS of gravel… approximately.  Give or take a hundred pounds???

“With [Diana] this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”  (Matthew 19:26)

Even now, as I must get up, it’s as if 10,000 little hands are pulling me back under the covers.  Back to Dreamland, where such feats are accomplished by others who are younger and stronger than me.

Maybe I’m younger and stronger than I thought.

“… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength… they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”  (Isaiah 40:31)

“… be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”  (Ephesians 6:10)

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

OK, Lord.  I’m awake now.  A walk awaits me… with some local women I met recently.

Some of whom don’t yet know You.

10,000 steps… three days a week.  Walking toward You.

Because the journey toward Eternity begins with a single step.
